Wintering: A Seasonal Creativity Program

Welcome to Wintering: A Seasonal Creativity Program

Join us for a journey with the in-between—the quiet, restorative time of winter.

Create space for your imaginal self to take root in Winter’s fertile void.

I love winter. Specifically January and February in the PNW. Before you say, you’re crazy!, let me explain. I love the quiet, hush after the busyness of the end-of-year festivities. I love the spaciousness of bare tree limbs against the white/grey sky, offering me a blank slate and an expanded view.

Winter invites reflection, retreat, and active, receptive waiting. This internal process is essential to the nature’s cycles and the creative process.

There is so much happening in the in-between, gestational stage of the creative process—even if we can’t see it.

Our work blooms from the digestion of our experiences and impressions. And very often, when we do not feel productive or capable of further efforts, we can still gather experience and knowledge, preparing the ground. This kind of work is essential, and leads to the epiphanal moments in the flow.
— David Ulrich, The Widening Stream

Without winter there is no spring. The Winter stage is where we cultivate states of creative awareness, such as patience, stillness, intuition, imagination, trust, humility, gratitude, awareness, reflection, and connection to the source within us.

Winter is a strengthening stage—clearing out and creating the inner space for the new inspiration, the new vision, to arrive and take root.

this Seasonal program is for you if:

  • You want to explore the restorative gifts of winter in your creative process.

  • You want something to look forward to each week—a steady rhythm of soul care—during the Winter season.

  • You want to grow your capacity to be with the in-between, the liminal spaces, the quiet, the mystery—the rich soil for creativity to take root.

  • You want to carve out space each week for self-discovery, reflection, and awareness.

  • You want to cultivate an active receptivity towards a particular creative project or dream seed.

  • You want to listen, share, and connect with others in a supportive community.

More darkness means more quietness in the evenings, when all that can be heard is the robin’s song. The rook, the jackdaw, raven or hooded crow, the distant squealing of gulls. I can hear so much more in between.
— Dara McAnulty, Diary of a Young Naturalist
